Each year on International Women’s Day we celebrate all the incredible women across the world. The theme this year is #BreaktheBias, which works to create a world for women that’s inclusive and equal for all regardless of cultural, political or social factors.

Most of us are fortunate enough to have many exceptional women in our lives who help guide and uplift us. At Shoal Bay Country Club we are lucky to be surrounded by smart, diverse and empowered women thriving in all areas of our business. We sat down with some of them to find out what International Women’s Day means to them.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

“A chance to look back at the women before us who got us to where we are now”

Who is a woman you look up to?

“There are so many amazing local women that are absolutely killing it at the moment, we don’t have to look far”
“My mother, she’s been through a lot including moving from Zimbabwe to Australia”
“Confident women who feel secure in themselves”

What makes you proud to be a woman?

“I am proud because in adversity we are strong”
“The way we can rely on each other but still remain independent”
“I’m proud that I can be a mum, that’s one of my biggest moments”
